Your first visit to our clinic usually takes about 45 minutes. In this time your Doctor of Chiropractic will take a full history, perform a thorough examination, and carry out digital posture analysis and x-rays where necessary. Results of these tests are usually ready the following day. Your Doctor of Chiropractic will give you a full verbal report of findings and recommendations for care.
First Contact
There are many ways to contact Optimal Health Chiropractic. Most commonly you can call us on 0131 662 6999, at this point you will be greeted by a member of staff and asked how we may be able to assist you. All of our staff are highly trained and able to answer any questions you may have – if we don’t have an answer, we will find out and call you back! We will ask you what particular problems you may be experiencing to enable us to make sure you have contacted the best health professional for your condition.
We will then explain the Initial consultation process and book a convenient appointment time. We have early morning and late evening appointments for people with busy schedules. We will also take your contact details to enable us to post your New Patient Forms to you. These consist of two short forms that when filled in help the Chiropractor accurately understand your case. Of course if you have any questions, you can give us a call on 0131 662 6999 and we can help.
Please remember to bring your completed New Patient forms along with you to your first appointment as well as any reading glasses you may need.
Your Initial Consultation
Upon arriving at Optimal Health Chiropractic you will be greeted by one of our Chiropractic Assistants (CA) who will welcome you to the clinic. At this point she will ask you for your completed New Patient Forms which you should have received in the mail. (Don’t worry if you don’t have them as we can provide a new set.)
Our CAs will then check your forms for completion and to offer any assistance or answer any questions you may have in relation to your forms.
You will then be shown through the clinic on your way to meet your Chiropractor. At this point we undertake some preliminary tests to help us gather information for your Digital Posture Analysis. You will then be shown into the consultation room where you will meet your Chiropractor.
Your Chiropractor will ask you questions regarding your current problem but also about your past health history. After taking a health history, a thorough examination will be performed. You'll be asked to demonstrate your range of movement, your posture will be checked, your reflexes and muscle strength will be tested, and other orthopaedic and neurological tests may be performed.
After the examination your Chiropractor may find it necessary for spinal x-rays to be taken. If you consent to this we can usually take the x-rays during your first visit.
