Is Chiropractic Safe?
Chiropractors typically have 5 years of University training and are highly experienced, making Chiropractic care very safe. In fact, Chiropractic is the largest drug free healing profession in the world and the third largest primary health care profession after Medicine and Dentistry.
All Chiropractors are required to regularly review research papers and journals, attend seminars, and further their education in the field of spinal health. This ensures the highest standards of safety in Chiropractic care.
How is an Adjustment performed?
There are many different Chiropractic techniques used to perform an Adjustment. Chiropractors regularly review research papers and journals and attend conferences to further their education in the field of Chiropractic. Some of the Chiropractic techniques used at Optimal Health Chiropractic include: Manual diversified, Activator, Drop Table and Toggle.
Each Adjustment itself is specifically tailored to the individual patient.
Does an Adjustment hurt?
An Adjustment is not a painful procedure. It can feel a little strange if you have never had your spine adjusted before but it does not hurt. Sometimes if you are already in pain or if movement is really restricted it may be slightly uncomfortable for a few seconds. Remember an Adjustment is designed to reduce the pressure and stress on your nervous system ultimately helping to reduce pain and make you more comfortable.
When can I expect to feel better? / How long will it take?
Different patients have different healing times. Some experience relief immediately, for others the process can take longer. Healing is dependent on many different factors including; the length of time a problem has been there, nature and severity of the problem, lifestyle, stress, quality of nutrition and rest.
Our aim is to get you back to your Optimal Health as quickly as possible, and to keep you there!
Will my insurance cover my Chiropractic care?
Many Health Insurance companies now offer policies that cover Chiropractic care to some level. Every Health Insurance company is different. We recommend you contact your Health Insurance company first to check if you are covered, to what extent and what the procedure will be in your case to make a claim. Our Chiropractors are registered with many insurance companies in the United Kingdom including BUPA and AXA PPP. If we are not registered with your insurance company, please let us know and we will make the necessary steps to introduce ourselves.
Will I need to have x-rays?
As Doctors of Chiropractic, Alanna Jarrott and Neil Cruikshank are fully trained to take and read x-rays.
We do not guess about your spine. If it is determined during your Initial Consultation that x-rays will be necessary in your case, your Chiropractor will discuss this with you. Optimal Health Chiropractic has invested in the latest x-ray equipment. Your x-rays will be taken using our own on-site digital x-ray system.
If you already have previous x-rays or other relevant information please bring them to your Initial Consultation with you.
Optimal Health Chiropractic uses the latest in digital x-ray imaging technology and computerised posture analysis. Specialised equipment has been sourced from all around the world, to provide our patients with the highest standards of Chiropractic care.
Do I need a GP referral to see a Chiropractor?
Chiropractic is a primary contact health care profession meaning that you do not need a referral from your GP to visit a Chiropractor. Optimal Health Chiropractic is a private clinic. If your examination results show that you will be a suitable candidate for Chiropractic care you will be invited to become a patient at Optimal Health Chiropractic.
